Alto Mboweni

Technical Director

Mr. Alto Mboweni is a Chemical Engineer with 20 years’ experience in the financial services, mining, oil, gas, and energy sectors. He started his career with Sasol (a South African Petrochemical Company with operations across the globe) as a Plant Process Engineer and he has been involved in various large projects as a Plant and Design Process Engineer at Sasol, KBR and Foster Wheeler also servicing companies such as Petronas and Saudi Aramco.

Mr. Mboweni worked on standardizing business processes in many African countries in the treasury division for the Standard Bank Group. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) acquired a 20% stake in Standard Bank in 2008. 



General management experience includes operations, business development, design, project control, financial management and modelling.

Mr. Mboweni has a degree in:

• Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, A Mathematical Modeling in Derivatives certificate from the University of South Africa and an ACI Treasury Certificate from ACI, France.
• Specialties Plant Process Design, Business Process Re-engineering, Techno-Economic Modelling, Programme Management.
